The Hindenburgdamm causeway connects the North Sea island of Sylt to the mainland. Trains transporting passengers and cars run over this causeway. The number 2 bus line to the youth hostel runs from Westerland station to the "Dikjen Deel" stop. The hostel is on the southern outskirts of Westerland, right on the beach and a 45-minute walk from the centre of the town of Westerland.
Youth groups can stay in modern tents with wooden floors and beds from June to September. Altogether, the group tents can house 150 people (23.70 m2, max. 8 people per tent) and there is a bathroom building. Group leaders stay in tents with a separate shower/toilet. All campers here enjoy delicious full-board accommodation. In addition, during the summer months, 70 places for underage campers with their own tents are available.
Camping in the dunes! Only a few metres away from the campsite, the sandy beach stretches out right before your eyes. For water sports enthusiasts, Sylt is one of the most popular surfing spots in the world. That's why it hosts the Windsurf World Cup. Fun on the beach with activities for everyone such as beach volleyball, basketball fans and yoga lovers - there's plenty of variety on offer here. Westerland is the "capital" in the middle of the North Sea island. The pedestrian area has many unique shops, cafes and souvenir stalls. Sylt Aquarium and the Sylter Welle leisure pool in Westerland are worth a visit.
