Tuebingen am Neckar is nestled between the Schönbuch Nature Reserve and the Swabian Alb. The city is home to one of the oldest universities in Germany. Many famous poets and thinkers emerged from the theological foundation founded in 1536. The many steep and winding alleys around the market square, the collegiate church, colourful half-timbered houses and the Schlossberg hill are characteristic of Tübingen. The youth hostel is located on the edge of the old town, directly on the Neckar, around 10 minutes' walk from the train station and town centre.
