Individual vacation with the whole family

The small Eifel town of Monschau lies in the Eifel National Park on the Belgian border. The castle, which has been converted into a youth hostel, is situated above the town on a rocky outcrop. Guests have a wonderful panoramic view of the historic town centre with its slate-roofed houses and winding alleys. The surrounding area offers well-developed hiking trails and many attractive excursion destinations.

Nestled in the medieval castle grounds is the "Hirschhaus" (Deer House), which was completely renovated and opened in 2001. Here, Monschau Castle Youth Hostel offers 5 comfortable holiday apartments. Families in particular appreciate the location a little away from the main house - in the family apartments, which are fully equipped with their own kitchen and bathroom/WC, a carefree and individual family holiday is possible.

Something special for families:

  • Free of charge: games and play equipment, cot, high chair, bottle warmer, changing mat, family information folder (please reserve at the time of booking).
  • Children feel transported back to the time of kings and knights at Monschau Castle. There is much to discover on the extensive castle grounds: Castle courtyards on different levels, mysterious underground vaults and passages, high towers and a walk-through battlements.
  • In Monschau, children have the opportunity to experience historical crafts: In the mustard mill, the mustard miller reveals some of his recipes, and in the glassworks, the glassblowers let you look over their shoulders. In addition, a historic sawmill can be visited.
  • The German-Belgian High Fens Nature Park with a moor landscape that is unique in Europe extends around Monschau. On well-signposted hiking trails you can explore one of the last intact high moor landscapes. Sturdy shoes or rubber boots recommended!

Catering

As guests of the holiday flats, you can, of course, cater for yourself - or take advantage of the extensive range of meals offered by the youth hostel. Whether breakfast only, half board or full board - the youth hostel's offer is perfectly tailored to the tastes of our young guests. Do you have any special requests? Talk to the youth hostel team - they will be happy to prepare packed lunches for you or fulfil special catering requests.

Our holiday apartments

Minimum stay 2 nights, arrival from 17 o'clock, departure until 10 o'clock. Meals can be booked in the youth hostel.

Each kitchen is equipped with a cooker, refrigerator and sink. There is also sufficient crockery for cooking and eating. Furthermore, all apartments have a TV with satellite connection. Bed linen and towels are provided for all 5 offers.

Apartment 1 for max. 5 persons:
3-bedded room, living room & bedroom with sofa bed for 2 persons (passage room), kitchen, bathroom.
