The North Sea island of Sylt is connected to the mainland by the Hindenburgdamm causeway. Trains transporting passengers and cars run over this causeway. You can take a number 2 bus from Westerland station and get off Hörnum-Nord. From there, it's only a roughly 8-minute walk to the hostel on the northern edge of Hörnum.
Are you ready for a holiday? Hörnum Youth Hostel has 168 beds in single to 8-bed rooms, 6 common and dining rooms, club room with TV, W-LAN, 2 table tennis rooms, billiards room, washing machine and dryer, table football, billiards, board games available for rental. DFB mini football field, area for playing football and bike rentals are nearby. The highlight of the hostel is the supervised beach on the seaward side.
Hörnum is the southernmost town of the island of Sylt. The kilometre-long sandy beach is very popular. But the Wadden Sea, especially in the east of the island, also offers natural experiences of a special kind. We recommend a guided excursion across the mudflats. From Hörnum harbour, ships set sail to neighbouring islands and to the islets. Hörnum is surrounded by the sea on three sides. Swimming, sunbathing, beach sauna and roofed wicker beach chairs invite you to relax and unwind. Hörnum Youth Hostel, situated among the sand dunes, is only a few metres away from the long sandy beach. The island is known for its huge range of water sports. Here is where the world's best athletes outdo each other in catamaran sailing, windsurfing and kite surfing and, of course, in surfing.
