SUNNY ISLAND FEHMARN On average, Fehmarn has the most sunshine hours in the entire Baltic Sea region. The Fehmarnsund bridge connects our island with the mainland and ensures a pleasant journey for you. Enjoy the long sandy beach, boat trips on the Baltic Sea, beautiful views from cliffs and sandy coves. Our Fehmarn Youth Hostel is located at the southern edge of Burg, about 1.5 km from the center and 3 km from the sandy beach Burgtiefe/Südstrand.

YOUR YOUTH HOSTEL consists of the main building and 8 colorful log cabins.

YOUR HOSTS are hostel manager Johannes Bethcke, assistant Michèle Manowski and chef Werner Landschof with their team. As a dream team, they ensure lovingly created programs, hospitality and culinary highlights.

YOUR PROGRAM Baltic Sea class trips, island tours with the squeaky yellow US school bus, fishing trips, water sports, gourmet bike tours for connoisseurs, Easter and New Year's programs.

ORGANIC FOOD On Fehmarn, we love regional products and prefer to cook fresh. Organic tea and organic coffee (fair trade) are part of our good standard. We make many sauces and spreads ourselves. We work in our youth hostel in a resource-saving way and avoid disposable packaging. We source our food from regional partners.

There will be no trains to Fehmarn/Burg train station until autumn 2027 (construction of the Fehmarnbelt crossing).
Comfortable double-decker coaches (bus route X85) are used as replacement transport from Lübeck with stops in Haffkrug, Lensahn, Oldenburg, Grossenbrode and Fehmarn-Burg. They run every hour between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
The journey time is approximately 1 hour 25 minutes.
The bus line departs in Lübeck in front of the main train station. Ride the bus from there to the stop "Burg" at Fehmarn train station.
From here, you need to walk 2 km to the youth hostel.
Bicycle transport: Please note that bicycle transport is only possible to a limited extent and cannot be guaranteed. Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to take e-bikes, tricycles, tandems, etc. with you.
From July 1st, 2023 to October 1st, 2023, a single-deck bicycle bus (the X85-F) will operate additionally on Saturdays and Sundays between Lübeck and Fehmarn-Burg. It provides space for up to 12 bikes including e-bikes. There is no guarantee of transport or reservation option. The bus runs 3 times a day in each direction.

For school classes/groups
We recommend renting a tour bus, as we cannot guarantee that enough space can be reserved for groups in the special buses.

If you still want to travel by train, please make sure to register with the DB travel center / DB agency as part of the group booking to check whether additional buses or seat reservations are possible for your desired connection. Registration for the bus should ideally be made 21 days before departure, at the latest 10 days in advance. Registration is possible by telephone on +49 30 2970, keyword: group. Please also get in touch there if your trip is cancelled. In this way we ensure that capacity can be allocated to other groups.
