Please arrive between November and March with advance notice, as the reception is not manned all the time.
- Until approximately the end of 2029, no trains will operate to Fehmarn/Burg station (Reason: construction of the Fehmarn Belt crossing).
- Comfortable double-decker coaches (bus route X85) are used as replacement transport from Lübeck with stops in Haffkrug, Lensahn, Oldenburg, Grossenbrode and Fehmarn-Burg. They run every hour between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
- The journey time is approximately 1 hour 25 minutes.
- The bus line departs in Lübeck in front of the main train station. Ride the bus from there to the stop "Burg" at Fehmarn train station.
- From here, you need to walk 2 km to the youth hostel.
- Bicycle transport is possible to a limited extent. The buses used are equipped with special bike racks that can hold up to 5 standard bicycles per bus. Due to their total weight, e-bikes are limited to a maximum of 3 per bus. S-pedelecs and e-bikes made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) or carbon cannot be transported on these racks. The maximum frame width allowed is 10 cm, and the tires must be of standard thickness. Bicycle reservations are not possible. Passengers are responsible for mounting and removing their bikes.
We recommend renting a tour bus, as we cannot guarantee that enough space can be reserved for groups in the public replacement busses.
If you wish to travel with the public replacement bus
Please register your trip as early as possible- ideally 21 days before departure, but at the latest 10 days before the planned travel date. The group service center will check whether enough seats are available on your desired X85 connection and will suggest an alternative if the bus is already fully booked. Please also remember to cancel your reservation if your trip does not take place. Group registration is recommended for groups of 11 or more people.

Please note that registration does not constitute a binding seat reservation, and we cannot guarantee a fixed seat or a place on the bus. However, your registration helps us better assess capacity and improve the travel experience. To avoid discomfort, larger groups are advised to travel outside peak hours.
