The walk through the historic centre of Blankenheim is like a journey through time. Past listed half-timbered houses, the town gate, through nooks and alleys to the source of the Ahr, which rises in a vaulted cellar in the middle of the town. Blankenheim Castle towers above the town, today a modern youth hostel with a historical ambience.

Since 2010, Blankenheim Youth Hostel has had a very special offer for families: in the bastion house below the main building of the castle, between the bastion tower and the castle wall, the youth hostel has lovingly furnished five exclusive holiday flats for families.

Something special for families:

  • Free of charge: cot, high chair (please reserve when booking).
  • Approx. 400 km of hiking trails around Blankenheim open up the surroundings for active nature lovers: Ahrtal hiking trail, Eifelsteig, Eifeler Quellenpfad, Jakob pilgrimage trail, juniper hiking trail.
  • Cyclists have no fewer options: Ahrtal cycle path, Eifel Heights Route, Erft cycle path, Kalkeifel cycle path, 3 Rivers Tour: Ahr-Erft-Rhine and a perfect mountain bike terrain.
  • Every year on Carnival Saturday, the historical ghost procession takes place in Blankenheim. Small and large ghosts put the winter into fear with the ghostly torchlight procession through the darkened town.
  • At the beginning of June, the Ahr valley will be completely closed to car traffic for one day - paradise for inline skaters and cyclists.

Minimum stay 2 nights, arrival from 16 o'clock, departure until 10 o'clock. All holiday flats with satellite TV.

Each kitchen is equipped with a cooker, refrigerator, sink, kettle, coffee machine, toaster and microwave/grill combination. There is also sufficient crockery for cooking and eating.
