Welcome to Torgau – the city of the Renaissance and Reformation.
The youth hostel is located in the immediate vicinity of Hartenfels Castle, with its castle church, inaugurated by Martin Luther, and the famous Wendelstein, a self-supporting spiral staircase that is regarded as an architectural masterpiece of the Renaissance.
The youth hostel and castle are separated only by the deep bear pit, an outer ward inhabited by three brown bears, spanned by a bridge.
The Elbe Cycle Path between the Old Town and the Elbe leads almost directly past the youth hostel. Due to the central location in the historic city centre, cultural facilities and dining establishments can be reached in just a few minutes' walk.
