High above the Rhine Plain, nestled in the rolling hills and vineyards, you will find Starkenburg Youth Hostel, close to the small town of Heppenheim on Bergstrasse. It offers a unique view over the Upper Rhine Valley all the way to France, and its location by the Odenwald forest is unrivalled. The "cannon tower", which is part of the castle's curtain wall, was turned into an apartment and is part of the Youth Hostel today (book for at least two nights).
