A heavenly place above the Karwendel massif

The mountains within reach, the sky white, blue and full of roses, the glorious scent of fresh herbs wafting over from the meadows - at Mittenwald Youth Hostel, there's no escaping that holiday feeling! Exciting hikes in the mountains will give you a rush of happiness. Your heart will be doing sumersaults with joy on the idyllic mountain pastures, adrenalin will shoot through your veins on the steep cliffs. Partnach and Höllentalklamm gorges, Laintal valley and the nature trail, a climbing park by the Youth Hostel - you can have anything from a leisurely stroll to a climbing adventure here. But always a stunner: the view to Zugspitze.

Also always an eyecatcher: the traditional trompe-l-oeuil paintings on the houses in the village, making every house a piece of art. And speaking of art - the Mittenwald violin makers produce true pieces of musical art here. Apart from that, Ettal Abbey, Linderhof Palace and Wieskirche chapel are not far, either.

Winter dream at the massif

Always worth a visit: the winter paradise round about Mittenwald, covered in metres of snow.
The ski resorts of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and atop Germany's highest mountain, Zugspitze, attract many visitors. And so do the ski courses on Kranzberg mountain.
