Mardorf is located on the largest inland lake in northern Germany and in the heart of the Steinhuder Meer Nature Park. Wonderful sandy beaches, bobbing sailing boats, surfers gliding over the water - Mardorf is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. Surrounded by forest, moorland and heath, magnificent old farmsteads look back on a long history and make Mardorf a village that is a pleasure to visit. As a nature park community, Mardorf offers a wide range of nature experiences; you can find out more, for example, at the Mardorf Nature Park House. Boat trips take you to Steinhude, Wilhelmstein Fortress or around the Steinhuder Meer. Away from the lake and beach life, there are plenty of opportunities to observe nature, for example on a bike tour to the Meerbruch bird sanctuary.
Rooms with lake view: our youth hostel is located directly on the north shore with its own access to the lake. The lovely sandy beach with its gently sloping lake bed is particularly attractive to families with children. We also provide kayaks and canoes for our guests, and the jetty and slipway make it easy to get started. Sailing boats can also be hired.
Would you like to see the stars twinkle and enjoy the romance of a campfire? Nothing could be easier on our campsite, which also has sites for caravans and motorhomes.
In the house, you can use the climbing wall, table tennis tables, table football and the house disco. The outdoor area offers table tennis, beach volleyball, streetball, a barbecue hut and a nature adventure garden. Around the corner is a football pitch and in the surrounding area: bike hire, horse riding, covered wagon rides. SeaTree - Steinhuder Meer Adventure Park, one of the most beautiful forest ropes courses in Germany, awaits you right next to the youth hostel.
