In the state-approved resort of Gunzenhausen, three W's come together: forests, meadows and lots of water. Our youth hostel is located on the edge of the old town at Lake Altmühlsee and offers lots of fun for young and old.
Get away from it all in the water and ashore
The Altmühlsee is a water lover's paradise. Discover the water: go for a spin in a canoe, take a dip in the cool water or go sailing. There are also many other opportunities for refreshment in the surrounding area. How about the Waldbad am Limes or the "Juramare" waterpark?
Do you want to pedal on land? Take the Altmühl cycle path through the Altmühltal Nature Park - 166 kilometers along the Altmühl. Past rock formations from the Jurassic period and flowering meadows. Or cycle around the Altmühlsee lake. Take a detour to the Bird Island. Over 300 bird species feel at home here and chirp in chorus.
The next tour takes you along the Limes from Miltenberg to Regensburg. The 500-kilometre-long Roman defensive wall ran right through Gunzenhausen. This is where the vast Roman Empire ended. Numerous traces of the Romans can still be found in Gunzenhausen today.
Gunzenhausen has a lot to offer. A museum, an indoor playground, mini golf and much more awaits you here. How about a stroll over the market square?
Parts of our hostel, which opened in 1997, are located in the listed Rotgerberhaus. There is also a new building on the Altmühl meadows.
Do you now have an idea for your next family vacation or group excursion?
The team of Gunzenhausen CVJM-Youth Hostel looks forward to seeing you!
