Mysterious high moor, forests steeped in legend. The small village of Silberborn lies at an altitude of just under 500 metres in the Solling-Vogler Nature Park, one of the largest forest areas in northern Germany. Situated next to the forest, our hostel is the ideal place for nature-oriented holidays, class trips and seminars with an adventure character. In the Mecklenbruch moor next door you can discover a variety of rare animal and plant species. On your way along well-marked hiking trails through the colourful mixed forests of the Hochsolling, you will meet aurochs and galloways grazing on mountain meadows, or exmoor ponies in the rustic Hutewald forest. In the Wildpark Neuhaus you can watch lynxes, wolves and other native wild animals and visit an air show with birds of prey.
We recommend our adventure weekends for families. For school trips, you can choose between all-inclusive programmes lasting several days and individual modules, which are professionally run by certified forest and adventure educators. The youth hostel also offers ideal conditions for training camps, music camps, seminars and family reunions. The spacious grounds offer plenty of room to romp and play. You can all join together at the campfire for an enjoyable evening.
Silberborn is a nature experience destination with over 100 km of well-signposted hiking trails. In winter, you can enjoy cross-country ski trails and a toboggan run. The tourist information office rents out snowshoes, skis and toboggans on request. Climbing adventures begin right next door in the TreeRock high ropes course with barefoot trail. Adventure golf can also be played on the same grounds. In the wildlife park in Neuhaus you can learn interesting facts about the inhabitants of the forest, moor and meadow biotopes.
