With a more than 8oo years history Wipperfürth is the oldest city in the Bergische Land. A walk through the historic city core with its numerous sights, nice cafes and little shops is therefore a part of the obligatory programme. Especially famous is the region for its water abundance. Solely in the city region of the Hanseatic city numerous dams are located, therefore Wipperfürth is also called the „city of the dams“. Mostly famous is probably the Bevertalsperre. Here not just swimming is allowed but you can also sail, dive and row. The appealing landscape can optimally be explored on foot or with the bicycle for example on the „Wasserquintett“ -hiking- and cycle path. The paths are leading around 5 Oberbergische dams and are offering due to different cross connections several varied day trips.
