The sea is right in front of the doorstep in Warnemünde. You just have to cross the street, then take a few more steps and you've already got the beach at your feet. 100 metres wide, it is one of the broadest beaches of the Baltic Sea. There is a lot going on here and plenty of space to do it: sunbathing, bathing, going for a stroll, playing ball games, building sandcastles, doing water sports. The fine sand in front of Warnemünde makes this place a particularly attractive place to build sandcastles. And unsurprisingly, it was the first place for wicker beach chairs to be introduced too. But it is not just the beaches that make Warnemünde into one of Germany's most beautiful Baltic Sea seaside resorts. It is the perfect place to have a beach holiday at the Baltic Sea. You have the best view of the Baltic Sea beach from the tower rooms of the Youth Hostel.

- Monday to Friday: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
- Saturday/Sunday: 8 - 11 a.m. and 3 - 6 p.m.

Locations & directions

Warnemünde? As everyone knows: this is one of the most beautiful spots on the German Baltic sea. And always has been, with its beautiful beach and open sea atmosphere. What Warnemünde offers: cute little fishermen's cottages nestled alon the narrow roads. You can't miss the fish restaurants and elegant shops.

A stroll through Warnemünde's old port, the "Alter Strom", is the done thing. You can enjoy a drink and a beautful seaside view in the freshly refurbished "Teepott" building below the lighthouse while cutters bob up and down on the water out at sea. Passenger boats draw straight lines through the water. Noble yachts and agile sailboats play with the wind. Then, all of a sudden, the loud sound of a horn blowing. A massive luxury liner makes its way from behind the pier in Neuer Strom port. Everyone on board? Seems so. Everyone is waving good bye or ahoy - we've seen Warnemünde, we've seen the heathland around it, the coastal forests and Rostock, the economic capital. Now, the passengers on the curise liners are headed for the next stop and shore leave at a different port. One last time, their eyes wander along the beach of Warnemünde.

Five stars! Hats off. This puts Warnemünde Youth Hostel at the top of its class. This is what you'll find at Warnemünde Youth Hostel: Nearly every room has its own en-suite shower and toilet. The rooms are also easily accessible for wheelchair users. There is also Internet access, a dryer and lockers. And if you leave the Hostel, all you need to do is go a few step across the road and you can already tumble down the beach.
