We are an "Alpine study place". Nature lovers of all ages learn about and understand Alpine culture and nature here with us. This is ensured by our educational adventure programs.

The scenery that lies at your feet is cinematic. It was not for nothing that the charming ambience at Walchensee was chosen for the live-action filming of "Wickie und die starken Männer".
Experience the impressive mountain landscape and its plants and animals. Take the Herzogstandbahn to the summit. If you prefer sporty activities, you can hike up to the lofty heights or explore the fantastic landscape on a ski tour in winter.

Our Walchensee Youth Hostel is the ideal starting point for your vacation. It is idyllically situated on the edge of the small village of Urfeld on the northern shore of Lake Walchensee.
Enjoy the unique view over the lake from our large panoramic terrace and marvel at the mountain panorama of the western Karwendel mountains.
