Schleswig on the Schlei

Welcome to the land of the Vikings! 1000 years ago, the Vikings built one of their most important commercial centres of northern Europe in Schleswig. And even today, traces of the Norsemen can still be found everywhere. And the town has even more to offer visitors. Schleswig is located on the Baltic Sea fjord of Schlei, making it ideal for cycling, hiking and canoeing. Go on a tour of Schleswig town centre, with St Peter's Cathedral, the town harbour, the town hall market with the Graukloster ("Grey Monastery"). The small fishing village of Holm is well worth seeing. You can swim in Luisenbad, the beautiful swimming spot on the Baltic Sea fjord of Schlei.
