Blue and gentle, Lake Starnberg lies before you. The magnificent Alpine backdrop rises up in the south. White boats sail past. Our Possenhofen Youth Hostel is located in this dreamlike setting in Pöcking. Just a short walk through the park and you're already standing with your feet in Bavaria's second largest lake.

Lake Starnberg is ideal for an active vacation. A paradise for hikers and cyclists. Explore a fantastic landscape on one of the numerous hiking routes.

Not just for romantics
Discover the lake on the water. You can still feel a hint of the fairytale king Ludwig II. Magnificent castles and villas are still reminiscent of this era today. Enjoy the special flair on a round trip on one of the boats.
Lake Starnberg is also the source of Bavarian myths and legends. Empress Elisabeth ("Sisi"), for example, lived here. Get to know her better at the Empress Elisabeth Museum. Enjoy the Rose Island and walk in the footsteps of Ludwig II.
