Medieval castles, winegrowing and the Sky Disk of Nebra

The beautiful Unstrut Valley

The small town of Nebra is located on the "Romanesque Road", amid the beautiful scenery of the Unstrut valley with its rich history. The view across the Unstrut valley is unique. Below the small town of Nebra the river makes its way through rocky red sandstone landscapes.  The valley is ideal for hikes and cycling tours or canoeing and kayaking.

Winegrowing has over a thousand years of tradition here, and many historic buildings such as churches, castles and palaces have left their mark on the region. Countless castle and convent ruins in the region can't wait to be discovered. Here, you can be the lord of a castle in one of Germany's largest fortifications, at Querfurt, or you can live like a medieval monk at Memleben convent.

The Sky Disk of Nebra

The famous "Sky Disc", which dates back to the bronze age, was found on Mittelberg near Nebra.Existing 3,600 years, the disk is one of the oldest knownconcrete stellar Illustration andone of the most important archaeological findings of our time. In the "Arche Nebra" multi-media visitor centre, you can learn everything about the Sky Disk and almost touch the stars. The Region offers even more  archeological finding like the sun observatory in Goseck.
