Location & Arrival

The Youth Hostel, recently fully renovated, is located in a leafy area in the south of Munich, close to the Isar and Tierpark Hellabrunn zoo. The next U-Bahn station is about a 3-minute walk away. From there, it is only 9 minutes to Marienplatz in Munich's city centre with the U3 line. The Youth Hostel is a meeting point for school classes, families and youngsters from all over the world.

Public transport to the Youth Hostel
From the main station, take the S-Bahn in the direction of Marienplatz - all S-Bahn lines go past Marienplatz and leave very frequently.
At Marienplatz, the city centre, take the U-Bahn line 3 in the direction of "Fürstenried-West" until you get to the "Thalkirchen (Tierpark)" stop.
Leave the U-Bahn station in the same direction as the train is going. You will see a church with an onion-domed spire - walk towards the chruch along Fraunbergstrasse. When you have passed the church, turn left into the small side road - you are on Miesingstrasse.
By coach or car
Car: regardless of which direction you are coming to Munich from - you will always spot the white "Elephant" signposts directing you to the Zoo. That's the way to go if you want to get to the Hostel. It is located immediately opposite Tierpark Hellabrunn zoo on the other side of the Isar.

Once you have arrived in Thalkirchen, use the onion-domed spire as your orientation - it should be to your left as you drive along Fraunbergstrasse.

After the church, turn left into the next street - you can already see the parking lot and the underground carpark.

Coaches: Please note that there are no parking spaces for coaches. Buses are not permitted on Miesingstrasse - please stop on Fraunbergstrasse to let your passengers step off. Coaches can be parked in Siemensallee (about a 10-minute footwalk).
Parking spaces
There are 16 free parking spaces in the parking lot on the Hostel's premises and 16 in the underground car park for which a fee must be paid.

By bike
When cycling through Munich, we recommend using one of the numerous well-maintained foot path/cycling routes along the Isar, which are closed for cars.

Coming from the north, orientate yourself towards "Wolfratshausen", coming from the south, towards the direction of "Freising".
When you get to the zoo, cross the Isar, turn left at the next traffic light, then right into Fraunbergstrasse. After the chruch, take the next turn left.

By the way:
You can leave your bikes in the underground car park free of charge.
