Activities for guests of Idar-Oberstein Youth Hostel

Idar-Oberstein, the Gemstone Capital, lies on the slopes of the Hunsrück mountains. Relaxed pedestrian areas with plenty of shops are ideal for a stroll through town. The German Gemstone Museum is well worth a visit, and so is "Steinkaulenberg", the only gemstone mine open to the public in Europe.
