At the southern tip of the Weserbergland, where the Werra and Fulda rivers kiss and unite to form the Weser, lies Hann. Münden amidst the wooded mountains of the Kaufunger, Bram and Reinhardswald. Atmospheric alleys, one of the oldest stone bridges in northern Germany and imposing buildings with inscriptions, oriels, historic doors and portals provide the perfect setting for your walk through the town. The Middle Ages are evident in over 700 half-timbered houses from six centuries. Hann Münden's historic town hall is one of the most important buildings of the Weser Renaissance. From the end of November to the end of January, the old town is decorated with three-dimensional sculptures. At the Lichterzauber the trees are covered in fairy lights and you'll find illuminated half-timbered gables and windows.
Our youth hostel is located on the Weser and close to theWeser cycle path, making it an ideal accommodation for cyclists and canoeists. Of course, families, youth groups, sports groups and school classes are also very welcome. The large outdoor area offers plenty of space to play - in addition to a slide and swing, there is table tennis, street and volleyball, a barbecue area and a football pitch. Canoes can be moored directly at the hostel's own jetty. Enjoy the beauty of the Weserbergland on a boat trip or on tours on the well-developed network of cycling and hiking paths.
Hann. Münden's cultural life is rich: concerts in Bursfelde Monastery, the International Museum Day or exhibitions in the Welfenschloss. In the cabinet of curiosities called "Dr. Wolf's Wunderkammer" you will come across an extraordinary thinking space for cultural history, where curiosities and art objects, mythology, natural science and the fantastic can be experienced interactively
