Hameln forms the centre of the Weserbergland region and is surrounded by a network of well-signposted hiking and cycling trails. In the old town you can admire numerous magnificent buildings from the Weser Renaissance period: the Pied Piper House, the Dempter House, the Leist House and the Wedding House. The magnificent overall picture of the historic streets is completed by half-timbered buildings worth seeing, two medieval town towers with town walls and the cathedral.

Located directly on the Weser and theWeser cycle path, the youth hostel is just a 10-minute walk from the town centre. The outdoor area is suitable for playing football or volleyball and offers table tennis, a basketball hoop and a barbecue and campfire area.

Of course, the Pied Piper plays a central role in Hameln: on the terrace of the Hochzeitshaus, the "Pied Piper Open Air Play" takes place on Sundays in summer and the short musical "Rats" is performed on Wednesdays. The Pied Piper puppet show can also be seen there all year round and the Pied Piper himself is available for guided tours of the town on request.

In addition to round trips and scheduled tours, the Weser shipping company also offers day trips on the Weser. Or how about a canoe or rafting trip on the Weser. 

In about 20 minutes by car you can reach the Schillat Cave, a fascinating dripstone cave with rock paintings, sparkling crystals and shining stones. It is a similar distance to the summer toboggan run in Bodenwerder. A highlight in the Weserbergland is Hämelschenburg Castle. Built in 1588 as a moated castle, it is considered one of the most beautiful castles in northern Germany.
