The internal elevator is out of service until further notice. The basement, first, and second floors can currently only be accessed via the staircase.

The airport can be reached directly from the youth hostel in 31 minutes with the S1 subway line.

Bringing along alcohol is not permitted. Alcoholic beverages are available from our reception desk that is staffed 24 hours a day, and at our bar in the unique harbour setting with a view over the piers (see the menu item ‘Bar’ for the opening hours). Youth protection regulations are observed in all points of sale in the hostel.

We also offer our meals as vegetarian/vegan food each day without a need for a prior request. In addition, we also offer the following food on prior request:

•           lactose-free,
•           no pork,
•           gluten-free.

We are not able of covering the nutritional requirements of people with serious allergies or other special dietary needs as part of our meal offer. Our buffet team will work hard to find a suitable alternative for you in the buffet.

On the day of arrival, the rooms will be available to you from 3:00 PM. If you wish to arrive before 3:00 PM, you may leave your luggage in our luggage room at no cost. Please note that the youth hostel does not have any parking spaces. You can reach our hostel instead using the excellent public short-distance transport connections. Parking garages at cost are available to you within walking distance. Please see our website for directions on how to find us.

The youth hostel cannot be reached directly by coach. We recommend using the parking spaces for busses in Helgoländer Allee at the level of the bridge. Coaches can be safely deboarded there and the youth hostel is located directly at the park exit above the bridge. The coach can stay parked there.

A guest kitchen with a microwave oven and small cookware set is available.

Barbequing and campfires are prohibited on the youth services premises and in the surrounding park.

The youth hostel Hamburg "Auf dem Stintfang" is not barrier-free. The receptionist level can be reached by lift. From then on, there are steps leading to the rooms. As an alternative, we recommend you the barrier-free youth hostel Hamburg “Horner Rennbahn.”

The Chicago Bar in the youth hostel is currently open from Mon - Sat: 7:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Bed linen are included in the price. They are issued at the reception desk and you can put them on yourself. Towels are not included, so please bring some or borrow towels against a fee from the reception desk (see the menu item ‘Towels’).

A choice of beverages is included with all meals offered by us. Bringing along your own beverages is not permitted. Beverages for purchase are available from the reception desk 24 hours a day or from the beverages vending machines and our bar during the opening hours.

You can park your bicycles safely and free of charge in our bicycle garage. We do have an e-bike charging station. Due to the fire hazard, it is not permitted to charge e-bike batteries in the sockets of the youth hostel.

You can rent bicycles, for example, from Stadtrad Hamburg. Use the app to rent bikes conveniently and drop them off at many stations in the city area. The first 30 minutes are free. The nearest Stadtrad station is at the piers or the nearby Quartier Brewery in Seewartenstraße.

If you have made a reservation via booking.com, changes to the reservation or cancellations must also be made via booking.com. We have no access to make changes to these reservations. If you have special wishes, please book these directly from us by email. However, we cannot reserve bottom bunk beds in the rooms this way either.

Online reservations can be placed at any time. You can send reservation requests by email to us at stintfang@jugendherberge.de. Please state your postal address and member number. Our reservations office is available from Mondays to Fridays between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM at +49 (0)40 5701590.

The breakfast buffet is opened daily from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM. On Sundays, the breakfast buffet is even opened until 10:30 AM. Breakfast cannot be swapped for packed lunches. Gluten-free breakfast is available.

The consumption of food (delivery service or brought in) is not permitted. All you need is available in our hostel.

Please send cancellations to stintfang@jugendherberge.de. Cancellation by telephone is usually not possible.

Fees might become due for cancellations. You can find more information in our GTC.

You can rent canoes and pedal boats at many canals and fleets and at the Alster.

You are welcome to pay us cash-free with EC or credit card (Master/Visa). Cash payment in EURO is also possible.

There are many charging columns all around the youth hostel that you can use to charge your electrical car.

The world-famous St. Michael’s Church is located directly near our hostel and offers regular Protestant church services. Catholic services are held in the “small St. Michael’s” also just around the bend from us.

Shower gel, soap, toothbrushes, etc. can be purchased from the reception desk.

We ask you to vacate the rooms by 10:00 AM on the day of departure. Your luggage can then be stored at no cost in our luggage room. Late check-out by 6:00 PM can be used depending on availability and against payment of a surcharge of EUR 14.00 per person. Please inquire with the reception desk on arrival.

We serve a warm dinner buffet from Monday to Saturday between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm. On Sundays, dinner is only available in special cases. Vegetarian and vegan options are always available at every meal – no reservation needed.

Many boardgames are available for free borrowing from the reception desk.

We do not have group rooms for individual school classes. The youth hostel has a large panorama lobby for all guests with a few smaller ancillary rooms.

You can borrow a hairdryer at no cost from the reception desk and return it after use.

Harbour tours take place all the time and no reservations in advance are need for individual guests, families and small groups. You can get affordable tickets from our reception desk.

City sightseeing tours of Hamburg by bus take place all the time and no reservations in advance are need for individual guests, families and small groups. You can get tickets from our reception desk. The routes of the busses are fixed and you can hop on and off at each stop of the city sightseeing line, whether this is at the harbour or St. Michael’s or city hall. The nearest point to get on or off is at the harbour just steps away from the youth hostel. The busses run from the mornings till early evening at regular intervals.

You can browse the internet free of charge while in the building, using your own laptop/tablet/smartphone. An access code is not needed. Please confirm the GTC in one of the browsers of the youth hostel network, as soon as you get the message “Connect to network.” You can then immediately start browsing free of charge.

You can inquire with the reception desk about a late check-out on your arrival. The room can then be used until 6:00 PM on the day of departure. This service costs EUR 14.00 per person and can only be booked for a complete room.

We have lockable closets in each room so you can stow away your valuables safely.

Items found will be held at the reception desk. You have returned home already and notice that you have forgotten your left sock in our hostel? Please write us an email to stintfang@jugendherberge.de and we will check if we have found your missing item. If this is the case, we will ask you to send us an electronic parcel slip by email and we will be happy to send you the parcel to your indicated address. Unfortunately, we cannot help you with lost and found if you call us on the telephone.

It is not possible to have courier services or parcel services deliver or pick up your luggage.

Your luggage can be stored free of charge in our luggage room on the day of arrival and the day of departure.

Our lunch counter is opened from Mondays to Saturdays from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM with a lunch menu for single guests and families. Vegetarian and vegan options are always available. We offer lunch for groups on prior reservation.

Membership in the Youth Hostel Association (Hostelling International)  is a condition for accommodation. The youth hostel Hamburg “Auf dem Stintfang” is one of more than 400 non-profit youth hostels in Germany (DJH). Please sign up online for your membership. The multi-bed rooms are offered to guests 18 years or older as mixed gender accommodation (men and women together). The accommodation is shared with other guests, so these are not rooms for exclusive use. We will be happy to offer guests younger than 18 years same-gender multi-bed rooms (separate rooms for men and women). Please note the room type as described in the booking confirmation.

You can get tickets to all musicals from The Lion King to Frozen from Stage Entertainment. You can also see the vast offer of german musicals there and buy tickets directly.

The youth hostel is opened 24 hours around the clock. Please be considerate to other guests in the rooms and hallways from 10:00 PM.

Packed lunches for groups can be ordered before arrival. As part of half-board, you can swap dinner for packed lunches. Please let us know what your boarding preferences are before your arrival. Your participants will put together their packed lunches themselves in the mornings at the breakfast buffet and get a few goodies additionally from us along with lunch bags for packing.

Parking is not permitted on the premises of the youth hostel. It is permitted, however, to pull up your vehicle briefly to unload your luggage. To do so, please ring the bell at the barrier in the Alfred-Wegener-Weg. There are two parking spaces for persons with serious disabilities who hold a corresponding ID. These parking spaces cannot be reserved ahead of time. The parking garage “Tanzende Türme” in Zirkusweg is located 2 minutes on foot.

We do not allow dogs and other pets in the hostel. Vacation in youth hostels with dog is possible in these youth hostels (German) that are suitable for dogs. Recognized assistance dogs are welcome.

There are a lot of playgrounds in the vicinity. There is even a water playground at Zirkusweg, only minutes away.

There is a pool table in the panorama lobby. You can borrow pool balls and queues against a fee from the reception desk.

The youth hostel is located above the Landungsbrücken Station at the piers and it has the ideal connection by S and U subway lines S1, S3 and U3. The stop for the youth hostel is only steps away.  >Timetables

Busses of the public short-distance transport services also depart from the U and S subway stop Landungsbrücken at the piers, directly below the youth hostel.

During your stay, you are invited to browse our stock of books in our lounge and also leave behind any books you have finished for other guests to read.

Food from guests must not be stored in our refrigerators or cold rooms. This is a hygiene rule that we must observe.

Should there be a defect in your room, please contact the reception desk. Our building technician will then see to fixing the defect.

Lower bungs can neither be reserved nor promised.

We can inform you about the room allocation of your group on the day of arrival. Please contact us on the day of arrival by phone or email with the current numbers of the students. Alternatively, we will inform you of the allocation on site. Students are accommodated according to sex, usually in four to six-bed rooms.  All rooms have a shower and toilet.

The rooms are cleaned starting at 10:00 AM each day. The floors of occupied rooms will be swept and the bathroom cleaned, and wastebaskets emptied.

All rooms are equipped with bunk beds. Except for our three panorama dormitories (8-bed room for backpackers), all rooms are equipped with a shower and toilet. The rooms do not have television sets. Duvets and pillows are filled with synthetic feathers and non-allergenic.

No children’s beds for toddlers are available at our youth hostel. Besides, our rooms are not big enough to park strollers in them. The hallways are flight and escape and rescue routes and nothing must be stored there.

Smoking is prohibited in the youth hostel. Shishas must not be used in the youth hostel.

Small quantities of medications can be stored in a refrigerator at the reception desk.

St. Pauli night market takes place each Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM at the Spielbudenplatz, in the direct vicinity of the youth hostel.

We have a table tennis room in the basement of the youth hostel. It can be used free of charge. You can either bring along your table tennis racket and balls or you can purchase these at the reception desk.

Our reception team will be happy to call a taxi for you. Thanks to our central location, taxis normally arrive within 5 minutes.

You can find a television set in our lounge. Sports events are also shown in the bar or on a beamer in our lobby. We do not offer Sky or other subscription channels.

Towels are not included in the price. You can borrow a set of towels, consisting of one regular towel and one large towel, from the reception desk for a fee of EUR 4.00 per set.

All two-bed rooms in the hostel are furnished with bunk beds and equipped with a shower and toilet. Specific floors, lower bunks or preferences regarding the view is not possible unfortunately.

Minors younger than 18 years who travel alone must present a consent from their parent or legal guardian when checking in.

We have a guest washer and a dryer available for use. Washer and dryer tokens can be purchased from the reception desk for together EUR 5.20 per load. This includes detergent.
