Travel to Göppingen-Hohenstaufen

Hohenstaufen is a district of the town of Göppingen and is situated on the main road leading towards Schwäbisch Gmünd. The modern town of Göppingen in the Filstal valley and the Swabian Alb region offers many opportunities for play, sports, shopping and recreation. The hostel is located on the outskirts of the village at an altitude of 550 m, below the summit of the 684 m high Hohenstaufen mountain, the mountain of the emperors.

Arriving by public transport

Göppingen station is on the Stuttgart to Ulm line. Go to the bus station (go out of the main entrance of station, turn left after about 150 m) and take a number 13 bus (runs every hour) to the "Jugendherberge" ("Youth Hostel") stop and then walk for 50 m up the street; the hostel is on the right.

Arriving by car/bus

Coming by car via the A8
Leave the A8 at the Wendlingen exit, follow the B313 towards Plochingen. Then take the B10 towards Göppingen as far as the Eislingen-West/Göppingen-Ost/Stauferpark exit. After leaving the B10, follow the signs for "Stauferpark" until you see the sign for "Hohenstaufen". Drive through Hohenstaufen until you go past the sign with the town's name on it. Then take the next road on the left. The hostel is 50 m down the road on the right.

Coming by car via the A7
Leave the motorway at the Aalen and Oberkochen junction and follow the B29 to Schwäbisch Gmünd. Once there, take the L1075 towards Göppingen through the villages of Strassdorf and Lenglingen to just before the entrance of Hohenstaufen and turn right here. The hostel is 50 m down the road on the right.

There are some parking spaces for visitors in front of the hostel, on the grounds of the hostel. Additional parking for cars is available on the public car park in front of the "Haus der Blasmusik" or the sports field and after the turning circle on the right-hand shoulder of the road, which is paved with yellow stones.
