Hohenstaufen is a district of the town of Göppingen and is situated on the main road leading towards Schwäbisch Gmünd. The modern town of Göppingen in the Filstal valley and the Swabian Alb region offers many opportunities for play, sports, shopping and recreation. The hostel is located on the outskirts of the village at an altitude of 550 m, below the summit of the 684 m high Hohenstaufen mountain, the mountain of the emperors.
Arriving by public transport
Göppingen station is on the Stuttgart to Ulm line. Go to the bus station (go out of the main entrance of station, turn left after about 150 m) and take a number 13 bus (runs every hour) to the "Jugendherberge" ("Youth Hostel") stop and then walk for 50 m up the street; the hostel is on the right.
Rail service for DJH members
The Community Travel GmbH offers DJH members discounted RIT tickets for a return journey within Germany - this applies only in conjunction with stays in a hostel. School classes and groups can make use of this offer. You must carry confirmation of your booking with you when travelling.
