On the day of arrival, the guest rooms are available from 3 pm. If you wish to arrive before 3 pm, you are welcome to store your luggage free of charge.

Unfortunately, our house is not barrier-free. All our rooms are at least on the first floor, we have no lift and no barrier-free sanitary facilities.

Animals are not allowed in our house.

The delivery or collection of luggage by couriers or parcel service providers is not possible.

Barbecues are not possible at our campfire site. The nearest barbecue areas are in Eriskirch at the lido, at the leisure centre in Manzell and at the Rotach in Oberteuringen. You can find a list of all barbecue sites in the area here: Grillplätze

Bed linen is included in the price, you just have to make the beds yourself.

In our bike cage we have a bike repair kit with an air pump and various tools.

We do not hire out bicycles, but the nearest hire stations are not far away.
900 metres away you will find the ‘Radverleih Friedrichshafen’ at the Esso petrol station or at the other end of the city centre at Gasthof Rebstock the ‘Fahrradverleih Friedrichshafen’.
 

Are you travelling by bike? No problem! Our large bike cage can hold up to 60 bikes. You can safely park your bikes there and we will lock it overnight. There are also four lockable charging sockets for e-bike batteries and a repair station with an air pump.

In our ‘Zeppelin-Stüble’ you can get cold drinks with and without alcohol as well as delicious coffee from our portafilter machine during reception opening hours.

We offer you discounted Bodenseetickets in conjunction with your guest card. With this ticket you can also explore the Austrian and Swiss side of the lake by train, bus and ferry without having to think about the ticket prices. You can find more information on the Bodenseeticket website. If you only need a connecting ticket for Bregenz, we can also provide you with a connecting ticket. Just ask us about it.

There are various providers in Friedrichshafen where you can hire pedal boats, motorboats and SUPs. You can find them at the gondola harbour in the city centre.

You can enjoy our extensive breakfast buffet from 7.30 am to 9 am.

All our rooms are equipped with bunk beds, we do not have double beds.

The ‘Stadtbahnhof’ railway station is about 30 minutes' walk from us. Buses and local and long-distance trains run from there. The ‘Hafenbahnhof’ is about 15 minutes' walk away, from where you can take buses and boats. The bus stop Jugendherberge und Berufsschulzentrum/Untereschstraße is right next to the youth hostel. From there, buses go to the city centre:

As a group, you are welcome to book our campfire site. You will receive bread dough and the campfire equipment after dinner. You have to take care of the fire yourself.
Barbecues are not permitted at our campfire site. We have summarised the nearest barbecue areas under "Barbecues".

Standard bookings for families and individual guests can be cancelled free of charge up to seven days before arrival. After that, cancellation fees may apply in accordance with our general terms and conditions. Other cancellation conditions may apply for special bookings such as "3 for 2". Please refer to your booking confirmation.
For school classes, cancellation is possible according to the cancellation scale in our travel conditions.
Cancellations must be made via email.

The car ferry to Romanshorn always departs at 20 minutes past the hour from pier 9. The exact journey times and prices can be found on the Lake Constance ferry website.

The catamaran departs from the harbour at pier 2 every hour on the hour in the direction of Constance, journey time 52 minutes. The exact journey times and prices can be found on the website of the catamaran shipping company.

Night rest is from 10 pm to 7 am. During this time, our house is locked and only accessible to checked-in guests. Please show consideration for the other guests.

Arriving by coach? We have four coach parking spaces. Please register your coach with us so that we can reserve a parking space for you.

Filter coffee is available at breakfast times, and during reception opening hours you can buy coffee from our portafilter machine in our bistro.

As a group, you will receive a common room according to your group size as a lounge and dining room. Depending on the occupancy in the house, several groups may share a room.

We almost always have an extra common room for families, which is reserved for our families and individual guests and is not used by groups.

On the day of departure, we ask you to leave the rooms by 9.30 am. Please take off the bed linen and throw it in the containers in the entrance hall, please return towels to reception. Your luggage can be stored in the luggage room.

Our buffet is open from 6 pm to 7 pm. You can enquire whether we can offer dinner during your stay from around four weeks before your arrival. Please inform us of any special catering requests up to four weeks before your arrival. For further information see ‘Special catering’.

Our shared rooms are gender-segregated. You will be accommodated in four- to six-bed rooms with washbasins and shared showers/toilets. Families with underage children receive their own room at the room rate and are not accommodated in shared rooms.

We have four lockers in our bike cage where you can charge your e-bikes.

When you pay the guest tax, you will receive the Echt-Bodensee-Card. With this card you can travel for free on buses and trains throughout the bodo public transport network during your stay. You will also receive discounts from over 200 providers in the region.

We do not have a charging station for electric cars on the premises. The nearest public charging station from the ‘Stadtwerk am See’ can be found at the ‘Seeparkplatz West’ car park, approx. 500 metres from the youth hostel, or in the car park of the Dehner garden centre operated by ‘City-Watt’, approx. 1 kilometre away. At Friedrichshafen Airport, fast-charging stations from the operator ‘IONITY’ are available (even without a parking ticket).

We do not have a guest fridge.  Food from guests may not be stored in our fridges or cold stores. This is a hygiene regulation that we must adhere to.

You can borrow various indoor and outdoor games from reception. We have a large selection of board and card games for all ages (for example: UNO, Settlers of Catan, card decks, Ubongo, Kniffel, Mau-Mau, SKYJO, ...). For the outdoor area, you are welcome to borrow wicker chess, frisbee discs, badminton rackets, footballs, volleyballs, etc.

You are welcome to borrow a hairdryer from reception.

You can surf for free via the DJH-Free Wifi. Simply accept the terms of use. Please note that the WiFi is only available on the ground floor, there is no reception in the rooms.

Check-out must take place by 9.30 am at the latest, unfortunately we cannot offer a late check-out.

We have a washing machine that you are welcome to use. You can get washing tokens for €4.00 per token at reception. You can hang up your laundry in our drying room.

Diagonally opposite our gate, there is a German Post letterbox.

We have lockers in our bicycle cage and in the entrance hall where you can lock up your luggage if you arrive before check-in time or want to store your luggage after check-out.
All cupboards in our guest rooms are also lockable. You will need a €2 coin as a deposit for each one.
 

The delivery or collection of luggage by couriers or parcel service providers is not possible.

If you arrive before check-in time or want to use the day luggage-free after check-out, you can store your luggage in our luggage room or the lockers in the bike shed.

We do not offer luggage transport, you are welcome to contact the taxi companies in Friedrichshafen in this regard. For cyclists travelling around Lake Constance, we recommend ‘Radwegreisen’.

You cannot buy tickets for Mainau Island from us, this is only possible online or on site. We recommend the online tickets, which are cheaper

Our breakfast buffet is open from 7.30 am to 9 am.

If you have booked packed lunches, you can prepare them directly at breakfast.

Dinner takes place between 6 pm and 7 pm.

Membership of the German Youth Hostel Association or a foreign youth hostel association is a prerequisite for staying overnight in youth hostels.
You can take out your DJH membership directly on the website (if you are resident in Germany). Otherwise, please check the website of the youth hostel association in your home country). 
School classes and clubs can take out a group membership, in which case not every person in the group needs their own membership. Travelling with group membership is possible for groups of at least four people. You can also find more information about group membership on the DJH website.
 

You are not yet of legal age, but would like to stay overnight in a youth hostel? From the age of 14, you can also come to us without an accompanying adult. A declaration of consent from your legal guardian is required. We will send you the relevant form with your booking.

We have a large meadow with a football pitch, a beach volleyball court, table tennis tables and table football. You can borrow footballs and volleyballs from reception. Please bring your own table tennis equipment, but you can also buy it from us.

Bringing your own food and drinks is not permitted.
We have a bistro where you can purchase both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. There is also a confectionery vending machine with various snacks.

As a school class, you can supplement your stay with various modules. From cutter sailing to a high ropes course to the monkey mountain, we offer you various options. Feel free to contact us.

You are welcome to book a packed lunch. We will provide you with fruit and other ingredients and will also prepare sandwiches and rolls for you.
Please note that it is not permitted to take bread and rolls from the buffet without booking a packed lunch.
 

There are a few parking spaces available at the youth hostel. These cannot be reserved. If all parking spaces are occupied, you will find further free parking spaces directly opposite in Lindauer Straße at the bus stop (2 minutes‘ walk from the youth hostel), in the car park at the DLRG in Untereschstraße (3 minutes’ walk from the youth hostel) or at the vocational school centre in Steinbeisstraße (5 minutes' walk from the youth hostel). Only registered coaches are permitted in our coach park.

Prepayment is made by bank transfer, please remember to state your booking number. You can pay on site in cash or by EC card or credit card.

The nearest playground is on the waterfront promenade.

We have a small selection of postcards with Lake Constance motifs ready for you. Please ask at reception. Of course you can also buy stamps (for postcards sent to Germany / other European countries).

We will be happy to provide you with discounted tickets for Ravensburger Spieleland. You can either book these directly at the time of booking (family special on our website) or purchase them on site. Feel free to contact us. Ravensburger Spieleland is easy to reach by bus from our hotel.

Our reception is open from 7.30 am to noon and from 3 pm to 10 pm. You can also get drinks in our bistro during reception opening hours. Reception opening hours may vary during the low season. Please pay attention to the notices at reception.

In our shared rooms, we cannot accommodate bed requests and therefore cannot reserve/guarantee a lower bunkbed. The “first come first serve” principle applies here.

We have 1-bed, 2-bed, 3-bed, 4-bed and 6-bed rooms all with bunk beds, sinks and mainly shared showers/toilets. Some rooms also have their own sanitary facilities. These can be booked subject to availability for an additional charge.
You will receive a room in the size you have booked. For occupancy reasons, we are unable to fulfil room requests.

We will allocate rooms according to the number of participants and leaders, their gender and the number of people you have registered. You will receive the provisional room allocation approximately two weeks before arrival.

Our rooms are all equipped with washbasins. Showers and toilets are separated by gender in the corridor. Some rooms also have their own sanitary facilities. These rooms can be booked subject to availability for an additional charge.

You can buy tickets for SeaLife in Constance from us and save yourself the queue on site thanks to time slot booking. SeaLife can be perfectly combined with a catamaran crossing between Friedrichshafen and Constance.

Torn seam, hole in the jacket - you are welcome to borrow a sewing kit from reception.

There are various ways to cross the lake from Friedrichshafen harbour. With the car ferry to Romanshorn, with the catamaran to Constance or with the white fleet to various harbours.

Out of consideration for other guests, smoking is only permitted in our designated smoking lodge (by the bike cage).

We can offer vegetarian and pork-free catering free of charge on request. Vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free catering is also possible after consultation with the kitchen at least four weeks before arrival for an additional €2.00 per meal.

We are unable to cater for any other intolerances, allergies or combinations of the above-mentioned foods or personal preferences and dislikes in the context of communal catering.

At the reception you can buy a small selection of Lake Constance postcards and stamps for postcards to Germany and other European countries.

If you have medication with you that needs to be refrigerated, you can leave it with us at reception in a bag labelled with your name and room number.

Please note that you can only access the medication during our reception opening hours (7.30 am to noon and 3 pm to 10 pm).

We have a sweets vending machine where you can buy various sweets such as gummy bears, crisps, chocolate bars,... can buy. Please pack some change for this.

If you want to go directly to the lake, the lidos in Friedrichshafen, Fischbach, Eriskirch and Langenargen are the place to go in the summer months. Our tip in the region: the wave pool in Ailingen. All are easy to reach by bus, car or bike.
The nearest thermal baths are in Überlingen, Lindau and Meersburg. Outside of the outdoor pool season, the sports pool with sauna is open in Friedrichshafen.
 

We have outdoor table tennis tables and a covered table for bad weather. We only offer table tennis bats and balls for sale. A set (2 bats, 1 ball) costs €5.60.

Towels are not included in the accommodation price. For a fee of €4.50 and a €5 deposit, you can borrow a set (consisting of a bath towel and hand towel). Please return the towels to reception upon departure.

Friedrichshafen Hafen / Hafenbahnhof - most buses (city buses, regional buses) stop here, but few trains; the ferries to Romanshorn, the catamaran to Constance and the passenger boats (summer season) also leave from here.
Friedrichshafen Ost - the RB93 stops here in the direction of Lindau-Insel or Friedrichshafen Stadt - this station is right next to the youth hostel.

You can fill up with still water around the clock at our water dispenser by the buffet. Please note that it may be temporarily closed for cleaning before or after meal times. If the trip to the ground floor is too far for you, all taps in the building provide excellent drinking water quality – so just place your bottle underneath and fill it up.
