Herrenwies, a small forest settlement at an altitude of 764 m on the southern slopes of the Badener Höhe mountain, is a borough of Forbach in the northern part of the Black Forest. The hostel is located on the Schwarzwaldhochstraße (B500) in a high valley between the wine-growing village of Buhlertal and the Schwarzenbachtalsperre reservoir at an altitude of 800 m. It is in beautiful countryside in the northern part of the Black Forest, surrounded by nature reserves (Flora-Fauna Habitat 24). The wetland meadows near the Youth Hostel are next to an extensive area of forest and steppes.

The nearest station is Bühl/Baden station on the Karlsruhe-Freiburg railway line. Take a bus from Bühl/Baden station to the Herrenwies-Jugendherberge stop (journey time 45 minutes)

Arriving by car/bus
You can drive to Herrenwies via the A5 Karlsruhe-Basel, Bühl exit, continue towards Bühlertal, take the Schwarzwaldhochstaße (B500) to Sand or, if you're coming from Rastatt or Freudenstadt, take the B462 through the romantic Murgtal valley and drive past the Schwarzenbachtalsperre reservoir.
