Your youth hostel Essen, located above the Baldeney-lake.

Essen - European Cultural Capital 2010 - lies on the southern edge of the Ruhr area. The city and the region offer many sights and cultural attractions such as museums, theatres and the World Heritage Site of Zeche Zollverein. Essen Cultural Hostel is in the Werden district, on the Ruhr heights above Lake Baldeney.

Arriving by public transport
Take the train to Essen main station, take the S-Bahn (S6) (local train) to "Essen-Werden," then the 192 bus in the direction of "Werden (S)" to the "Jugendherberge" ("Youth Hostel") stop.
Arriving by bus or car
From the A52 motorway:
Take the exit 26 Essen-Kettwig. At the exit turn right and then at the intersection with traffic lights turn left towards Essen-Werden.
Take the Schuirweg to the intersection Ruhrtalstraße, turn left here and at the S-Bahn station "Essen-Werden" turn right towards Solingen / Wuppertal (B 224). From here follow the signs.
Coaches should follow the second signpost, about 3 km behind the Ruhr bridge.

From the A40 motorway:
Take the Essen-Stadtmitte (town centre) exit, then drive towards Solingen/Wuppertal (B224). Buses should follow the second signpost, about 3 km behind Ruhrbrücke bridge.

Note: there is no turning area for buses at the hostel.
Parking facilities
Car parking spaces are available at the hostel.
Arriving by bike
The hostel has a secure parking space for 10 bicycles.
