The Duisburg landscape park north, in former days a steel works in which raw iron was produced for the steel industry, is nowadays a leisure park in which recreation, adventure and fun are occupying centre stage. Diving in the huge Gasometer, climbing in the bunker-facilities, torch-guidances and many further activities are awaiting you. At the same time you can get to know a lot about the past and the presence of the landscape park in which the nature has reconquered the terrain from the industry. But not only the landscape park shows how abandoned industrial facilities can be repurposed in a creative way. The inner harbour, who serves in former days the unloading of the ships and was therefore called the „bread-basket of the Ruhr area“- nowadays is a modern strolling promenade and office-mile with restaurants, cafes and museums. On a former slag heap in the south of Duisburg one can find today the worldwide minded sculpture „ Tiger&Turtle“, which is also wellknown as the walkable rollercoaster.
