The winemaking centre of Radebeul is steeped in tradition. It has close connections with a number of wineries, mountain lodges and summer houses. The idiosyncratic charm of the local landscape was once a magnet for artists and scientists alike. The author Karl May wrote his works in Radebeul. The naturopath Friedrich Eduard Bilz founded a health spa with wave machine here, which locals and guests still enjoy today.
Offering cultural and leisure facilities as well as a broad array of events, Radebeul is a great place to experience culture and nature in equal balance - right on Dresden's doorstep. Moritzburg can be reached via by taking the narrow-gauge railway from Radebeul-Ost to Radeburg. A great public transport network means excursions from Radebeul to the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, "Saxon Switzerland" or the Ore Mountains are no problem at all.
