The Youth Hostel is located inside Colditz Castle, some 50 km south of Leipzig between Grimma and Rochlitz.

The Youth Hostel mostly has four to six-bed rooms, with a total of 161 beds. Each room is equipped with an en-suite shower/WC. There are also 1 dining room, 1 open terrace, 1 barbecue area, 1 disco room, 1 reading room, TV room, 1 room with games machine, 1 table tennis room and a former guardhouse. For conferences and seminars as well as extracurricular teaching and workshops there are 7 function rooms of up to 96 square metres in size. A projector, screen, OHP, flip chart, pin boards etc. may also be borrowed.

Our tips for your stay

A small town with a population of 5000, Colditz is nestled on both sides of the Zwickauer Mulde. Today numerous historic buildings bear witness to an eventful past. The town's centrepiece is its market square, with its Renaissance town hall, the Church of St. Egidien and the St. Nicholas Cemetery Chapel. The historic old town is located on the right bank of the river. As a symbol of the city, today Colditz Castle continues to attract many tourists from around the world.

  • Schönbach has a basket museum and Romanesque hillside church, while in Nimbschen you'll find the ruins of an abbey where the future wife of Luther stayed between 1509 and 1523, and in Kössern there are a hunting lodge, pavilion and manor house. Grimma awaits you with its old town, castle, Museum of Local History or Göschenhaus Museum, or why not pay a visit to the Water and Ship Mill Museum in Höfgen-Kaditzsch?
