With a population of around 250,000, Brunswick is the second largest city in Lower Saxony. Here, tradition meets research and big city meets nature. The city was shaped by Henry the Lion, who in the Middle Ages as Duke of Saxony made Brunswick a centre of representation by building the cathedral and Dankwarderode Castle. Today, Brunswick still offers picturesque half-timbered buildings and a wide range of cultural activities.

Opened in 2015, the youth hostel is one of the most modern youth hostels in northern Germany and the ideal starting point for your discovery tours. Programs for all ages make the youth hostel an accommodation for schools, families and groups looking for a mix of city and nature. Seminar and conference guests are also very welcome here. Five modern conference rooms provide a stimulating working atmosphere.

The Inselwallpark is only a few steps away, the city centre with cafés, shops and the SchlossArkaden is within walking distance. Water fun is offered by the various swimming pools or canoe or raft tours on the Oker. At the weekend, you can experience an evening with shady characters on the "Murder Stories on the Oker" on a boat cruise. If you have small children, you can visit theFadenschein puppet theatre or Noah'sArk Zoo. On request, we can organise black-light indoor mini-golf or rock climbing in the bouldering hall.
