A beneficial climate, fragrant mountain meadows, legendary wilderness: Braunlage is surrounded by the Harz National Park and lies below Lower Saxony's highest mountain, the 971-metre-high Wurmberg. The longest cable car in northern Germany takes you up to the summit. From the top you have a magnificent view over the entire Harz region.

Ideally suited for families, school classes and sports groups, the youth hostel is set amidst tall spruce trees, close to the edge of the forest and the "Harzer-Hexen-Stieg". Braunlage's town centre is within walking distance. Numerous hiking trails and cross-country ski slopes start right at the doorstep. In one to two hours you can reach the Achtermannshöhe or the Silberteich. Day trips take you to the Brocken mountain or to St. Andreasberg. The outdoor area offers table tennis, a goal wall, streetball, children's playground equipment and a barbecue hut. The ice stadium at the foot of the Wurmberg is also popular as a place to go for skating and disco fun on the ice, regardless of the weather.

It doesn't get any higher than this - at a maximum of 971 m, the Wurmberg offers lots of adventures! The Monsterroller are great fun: "pedal scooters" with studded tyres and disc brakes guarantee the ultimate kick. After a short briefing, you can ride down the Wurmberg for a total of 4.5 kilometres on a specially prepared slope. The Bikepark Braunlage offers unbridled biking fun for beginners and pros on four different routes. The Wurmberg tower is 32 metres high. You can reach the highest vantage point by walking 162 steps or comfortably by lift. From the top you can admire the Brocken in all its glory. The toboggan run through the forest, which can be reached by cable car, is a special highlight that you should not miss when it snows.
