Long beaches of fine sand

Holiday on the island of Rügen

Rügen, Binz, long beaches of fine sand, flocks of squawking seagulls, lush beech forests, endless horizons, golden sunrises and sunsets.

The island is the perfect place to recover, relax and go on holiday. Witnessing the seasons change is really something else on Rügen. Feel the sun's warm rays caressing your skin, the smell and tast of sea salt in the air, the soft, silky touch of the sand as it trickles through your fingers. Feel the sea breeze wipe all your worries away. Marvel at the endless bays along the coast.

It's a symphony for the senses. Binz is both charming and glamorous, vibrant and colourful. Its villas have still maintained some of their original charm after more than a century. Lovely small lakes like the Schmachter, the Hertha or the Schwarzer, the latter being the stuff of legends, will have you day-dreaming. But there is much more to the island of Rügen. Beautiful surroundings, museums, art galleries, theatres and, of course, sports facilities and recreational areas. Come visit us, let the charm of Rügen seduce you, and you, too, are sure to fall in love with Germany's largest and most beautiful island. You won't be able to resist coming back. We will be glad to have you stay at our Youth Hostel, no matter whether you are a regular guest or are visiting us for the first time.

These are some of the facilties that make us stand out:

  • Tranquillity: Enjoy a truly relaxing holiday on the sunny island of Rügen

Binz Youth Hostel is the only Hostel that boasts its own wicker beach chairs, and it is located in the most beautiful spot in Binz: directly on the sea and in the protected historic part of the town. Immediately on the promenade - front row, so to say. Where you can bathe and surf, lounge around, see and be seen. Just one step out of the door, and you are where it's at. Discover the unique architecture of the baths in Binz or enjoy the spa orchestra's concert. Meanwhile, your children are having the time of their lives at one of the water playgrounds. Only a few steps further on, you can walk straight out onto the sea along Binzer Seebrücke pier. Boat tours starting from there will take you to the beautiful chalk rocks, to Kap Arkona or on a day trip around the island of Rügen. Alternatively, you can tour the island on the "Rasender Roland" - the historic steam engine huffs and puffs along the tracks from Binz to Granitz and to the Baltic resorts of Sellin, Baabe and Göhren, and will also take you to Putbus or the port of Lauterbach. What else the region has to offer? Why not start your discovery tour right here...

We will make you feel at home

Our Youth Hostel isn't located just anywhere: we are in the historic centre, right next to the beach! You won't have to walk far in order to get to the sea promenade. School trips, groups or organising holiday programmes aren't new to us. Young people and groups like it here as much as families with children or older guests do. Making our guests feel at home has been our job for nearly fifty years. And we have always been glad to do it.
