Bad Salzungen is always worth a visit!

Bad Salzungen lies in the geographical centre of Germany. Whether it's culture, sports or healthy activities you're interested in, it's all here - so you can spend your free time doing exactly what you want. Many visitors are drawn to the town by the wide range of cultural highlights, including the "Kultursommer" ("Summer of Culture"), the music and dance festival and the town and lake festival, with the legendary "Lake in Flames" firework display.

Sightseeing and excursions

Of course, the area around Bad Salzungen also has lots of interesting attractions, such as Merkers Adventure Mine. Travel 800 metres below ground and discover the world of white gold. You really must make sure you travel to Eisenach, which is home to the Wartburg, the Bachhaus, the Lutherhaus and the "Burschenschaftsdenkmal" ("Monument to the Student Fraternities"). Or why not go on an excursion to Bad Liebenstein, with the fabulous park grounds surrounding Altenstein Castle, or perhaps to "Point Alpha" Border Museum.
