Special attractions for families
- In the Duisburg-Nord urban landscape reserve you can experience industrial history hands-on, either under your own steam or on a fascinating guided tour. For sports fans, the former ore bunker has been transformed into a climbing garden and a former gasometer is used as a diving venue. Other attractions of the park include a tubular slide, an inline skating rink, a large variety of sports equipment, an adventure and water playground, a football area, interesting organic farm, as well as concerts, operas, plays and open air cinema in summer.
- Duisburg-Meiderich Youth Hostel is an ideal starting point for exploring the Route of Industrial Culture by bike. GPS systems for bicycle tours and digital cameras including a CD-Rom with pictures taken are for hire at the hostel.
- Duisburg Zoo: The big Delphinarium and the refurbished giraffe area are only two of its highlights.
- Baby's cot, bottle warmer and high chair are available if booked in advance.
