Romantic Road
The Romantic Road is one of Germany's most popular tourist routes from Würzburg to Füssen. On a distance of only 217 miles (350 km), there are tourist attractions one after the other like beads on a chain.
Würzburg
Watched over by its landmark, the Marienburg fortress, the university and congress city on the River Main is surrounded by vineyards. In addition to the former Prince Bishop´s Residence (UNESCO World Heritage Monument), the splendid Baroque masterpiece by Balthasar Neumann, is worth seeing.
Rothenburg ob der Tauber
The medieval appearance of this little town bewitches every visitor. The wall encircling the town, for example, is still preserved, providing the perfect setting for the gothic and Renaissance gabled houses (about 155 miles, 250 km).
Augsburg
This once so powerful city under the merchant family of the Fuggers is historically closely connected with Füssen. Even today it is the seat of a Roman Catholic bishopric and has sights from many epochs to offer its visitors (about 62 miles, 100 km).
