Winter diversions in and around Garmisch-Partenkirchen

• Ice-skating and curling in the Olympia Ice Sport Centre
• Horse-drawn carriage and sledge rides, for example from the Olympic Ski Stadium to the Partnachklamm gorge.
• Tobogganing to the Reschberg meadows, from Grasberg to St. Martin or on the Kochelbergalm or the Hausberg. Toboggans are on hire at the youth hostel.
• Watch deer feeding every day at about one hour before dusk (about 4 or 5 p.m.) at the Kramerplateau trail near the Almhütte (mountain chalet).
• Winter hiking tour no. 1 (to St. Martin): Youth hostel - Sonnenbichl – Grasberg - St. Martin (1030 metres) and back again. Tobogganing possible in suitable conditions.
• Winter hiking tour no. 2 (to the Partnachklamm gorge): Youth hostel - bus to the Olympic ski Stadium - Partnachklamm gorge and back again. The icy walls of the gorge and its huge icicles are sure to be particularly impressive.
• Cross-country skiing: About 110 kilometres of cross-country ski runs invite you to explore nature on skis. The youth hostel can recommend or book cross-country ski courses and also organises ski rentals on request.
