Industrial culture, the Middle Ages and a hiking paradise - Solingen-Burg Youth Hostel

Solingen-Burg Youth Hostel is surrounded by beautiful countryside, just a stone's throw away from the medieval castle of the Counts of Berg. This lovingly maintained half-timbered house fits perfectly into the romantic landscape. A hiking paradise starts on the hostel's doorstep: 50 routes and 400 km of marked hiking trails await you. Discover in the town itself the Deutsche Klingenmuseum (German Blade Museum) and Gesenkschmiede Hendrichs (Hendrichs Drop Forge), where, even today, scissor blanks are still noisily being forged. Living history, romantic charm, outdoor activities - it's hardly possible to offer more varied attractions!

The hostel offers a rustic atmosphere and a diverse range of programmes. Families, schools, cycling fans and groups - they will all feel at home in the cosy building. The programmes for school groups, families and groups offer exciting adventures in and around the adjacent woods or the nearby castle. Don't be surprised if little elves, trolls and Nature Scouts of all ages run across your path!

Do you prefer to put together your own schedule of leisure activities? No problem. Whether sports, wild animals or shopping - the range of leisure services in the region is diverse. Visit the wild animals in the Tierpark Fauna, admire the highest steel lattice bridge in Germany or ride the famous suspension railway in Wuppertal.

Special features:
  • Diverse programmes offered relating to the topics of the Middle Ages, fantasy and wildlife
  • Perfect location in a wooded and hilly landscape protection area
  • Group camp site sleeps up to 40 people
