Heide is in the heart of the Dithmarschen district and is at the same time a historical and cultural centre as well as a modern town. The hostel is located centrally in the town. Whether by car or by public transportation, Heide is easy to get to and an ideal base from which to explore all the towns and tourist highlights along the North Sea coast: dykes, beaches, waves, and the Wadden Sea, a World Heritage Site. The residents of Heide are proud of the biggest market place in Germany, where every Saturday a large weekly market with fresh fruit, bread and vegetables from the region attracts lots of shoppers and tourists.

What's worth seeing in Heide are St Jürgen's Church, St George's Fountain at Südmarkt (Southern Market) and the many historical buildings in the town centre. History comes alive on the museum island of Lüttenheid, in the Klaus-Groth-Museum and in the Brahms House. The "Dithmarscher Wasserwelt" has a thermal salt water indoor pool with an outdoor pool, 50 m lap pool, diving pool and an 80 m long water slide. You can really relax and unwind in the saunas and sauna garden. The North Sea and the World Cultural Heritage Site of the Wadden Sea are always within range (about 15 km) and easy to get to by train.
