Let yourself in for the adventures of nature that await you behind every bend of the road when you go on a hiking holiday! Regardless of whether you are setting off with your friends, children and family or on your own – Germany offers an abundance of suitable hiking routes!
The most beautiful hiking paths - never far from a Youth Hostel
Youth Hostels are the ideal accommodation when on a hiking holiday. Youth Hostels offer sufficient space for groups or school classes as well as family-friendly rooms and plenty of opportunities for playing and running around. Tired hikers can look forward to a delicious meal, often offered as a buffet meal in the mornings and evenings. And of course packed lunches are available for taking along in your rucksack!
Hiking in Germany: discover the beautiful scenery
Sing a happy tune... and walk along varied hiking routes for every type of hiker, past steep cliffs, mysterious castle ruins or spectacular views. Banks invite you to sit down and rest or have a leisurely picnic, or you can drop into one of the restaurants or lodges where big and small hikers can take a well-deserved break – whichever route you have chosen, be it, for example, the Lahnwanderweg, Eifelsteig or Frankenweg route.
Special Youth Hostels' hiking tours offer even more fun
Many Youth Hostels have special hiking holiday offers or offer guided hiking tours. Our guides are experienced hikers and familiar with children, so you can relax and go on tour with them, but also plan time for your own activities.
We also offer special outdoor activity programmes for children and teenagers who would like to spend a holiday without their parents. Would you like to learn how to find water and food when you are out in the great outdoors? Our survival training programme might be just right for you.
Hiking with kids: always a big adventure!
Sharing the experience of hiking with your children opens up a completely new perspective on nature. Take your time to inspect the beetle by the roadside closely, discover beautiful mushrooms and rare plants on the wayside or collect little souvenirs such as cones or pebbles to get creative and turn them into something beautiful later...
