Youth Hostels are a place where friendships develop

Cohesion in a group doesn't only grow through training together. Common leisure activities outside the rigid training plan bring sportsmen together and enable friendships to grow. That is why we have a varied leisure activity programme on offer in our Youth Hostels. Activities include, for example:

Climbing parks

Party rooms

Barbecue areas

Spa areas

Table football

Ping-pong tables

Popular youth hostels at sports groups

Our favorite youth hostel: Jugendherberge Westerland

Marcus Fürstenberg, coach of the football country ligist TuRa Harksheide, was initially skeptical, he had no good memories of the youth hostels from the school days.

But the house "Dikjen Deel" on the beach of Westerland convinced him. In January, Marcus Fürstenberg already completed the sixth training camp on the island. There were running units at the booth, beachsoccer, training in tactics, swimming in the indoor pool as well as fitness units. "The weekend was also important for the team spirit," emphasizes coach Fürstenberg.

It has paid off: the kickers have been unbeaten for seven games.

A round thing: Jugendherberge Ortenberg

The football national team trains in a youth hostel? But clearly! The German team of Cerebral Paretics (brain-damaged people with restricted mobility) completed a football course at the Ortenberg Youth Hostel in Baden-Württemberg.

The national team was founded three years ago. Invited by the German Disabled Sports Association (dbs-npc.de), fourteen kickers and five attendants met in the youth hostel, which is located in a neo-gothic castle. Here they were preparing for an international competition.

"The team spirit was strengthened by the accommodation in multiple rooms and shared kitchen service," praised the coach Thomas Pfannkuch. The former Bundesliga pro was also excited by the training course of the local sports club. "We have completed successful training sessions here and are well prepared for the tournament to Denmark", he noted. The youth hostel team-mate Christian Hefele had suggested. "It was a novelty for us," he said. "After the positive experiences, it looks as if every year a course takes place in the youth hostel Ortenberg."
